USS Laboon to operate in Black Sea

   (Censor.NET-20 Jun) --- The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) is scheduled to arrive in the Black Sea on June 21 to promote peace and stability in the region.

   The United States continues to demonstrate its commitment to the collective security of our NATO allies and support for our partners in Europe, in light of the ongoing Russian intervention in Ukraine. All DoD efforts in support of our NATO allies in Eastern Europe fall under the umbrella of Atlantic Resolve.
   USS Laboon (DDG-58) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the United States Navy. She is named for Father John Francis Laboon (1921-1988), a captain in the Chaplain Corps of the United States Navy, who was awarded the Silver Star during World War II while serving on USS Peto (SS-265).
