Britain announces increase in NATO Eastern Europe force

(UNIAN) --- Britain has pledged more extensive involvement of its military in Eastern European NATO member states amid growing fears that after Russia’s intervention in Ukraine, the Kremlin’s next targets may be Poland and the Baltic states.
According to the plan, a new “spearhead” rapid reaction force will be able to engage the enemy in a hot spot in just two days. Also, the period of deployment of the British troops and air patrol by Typhoon fighter jets in the region will be extended, Ukraine Today reports.
In an interview with the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show on Sunday, British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said that NATO must keep sending Russian President Vladimir Putin signals that the alliance is determined in its commitment to collective defense.
