Ukraine War Update - 7 July 2015

Situation in Donbas deteriorated. Hranitne shelled from artillery, - ATO press center
   (Censor.NET) --- The situation in the ATO area escalated July 7. A total of 29 attacks on positions of the Ukrainian forces have been recorded as of 6 p.m.
   Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO press center.
   The report reads: "The pro-Russian gangsters have been boldly shelling positions of the defenders of Ukraine with 152-mm artillery and 120-mm mortars.
   "The militants were shelling the ATO forces' positions near the villages of Novhorodske and Pavlopil in the Donetsk region from 120-mm mortars since the beginning of the day. The militants employed tank near Pavlopil at 4.10 a.m.
   "The pro-Russian criminals used 152-mm caliber artillery against the positions of the ATO forces near the village of Hranitne at 12.40 p.m. The same area came under 82-mm mortar fire an hour later.
   "The gangs started shelling the ATO forces' positions using 120-mm mortars coincidentally with the beginning of negotiations of the contact group in Minsk, as if by someone's order: the vicinity of Novhorodske village was attacked at 3.20 p.m.; our positions near the village of Luhanske were assaulted at 4 p.m.;  Opytne village - at 4.50; Vodiane - starting from 5.20 p.m.
   "The pro-Russian criminals executed harassing fire from small arms against the positions of the ATO forces deployed near the towns and villages of Marinka, Pisky, Zolote, Maiorsk, Lozove, and Stanytsia Luhanska.
   "Two flights of enemy drones have been recorded in the skies over the Luhansk region.
   "The attempts of the Russian-terrorist gangs to find gaps in our defenses appeared to be unsuccessful thanks to duly executed professional actions of the Ukrainian soldiers. The situation in the ATO area is under the control of the Ukrainian servicemen," the statement reads.

Ukraine to boost capacity for gas supplies from Slovakia
   (Interfax) --- Ukraine expects to increase capacity to import natural gas from Slovakia in the reverse direction to 41 million cubic meters a day to 55-57 million cubic meters, Ukrtransgaz President Ihor Prokopiv told journalists in Kyiv on Tuesday.
   The operators of the gas transportation systems in Ukraine and Slovakia recently agreed the relevant technical solutions, Prokopiv said, clarifying that the work would be carried out on Slovak territory.
   He added that Ukraine already has sufficient capacity to import gas from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.

Two Ukrainian soldiers wounded by terrorists' shelling in Krymske, - Luhansk governor Moskal
   (Censor.NET) --- Two Ukrainian soldiers were wounded by terrorists' shelling in Krymske village, the Luhansk region.
   This is reported by Censor.NET citing official website of Luhansk governor Hennadii Moskal.
   "On Monday, June 6, at around 6 p.m., a fighting occurred between Ukrainian military and mercenaries from the neighboring Sokilnyky at Krymske suburbs. Small arms, mortars, and grenade launchers were used. Missiles fired from Sokilnyky exploded in residential areas of Krymske. Local residents were forced to flee the village and hide in cover position. The fighting lasted for two hours. No civilians were hurt, but two Ukrainian soldiers, aged 29 and 31, were injured in firing. Both have been delivered to hospital. The wounds are light, imposing no life threat," the message reads.
   Moskal also noted that over the past night, military engagements took place in Troitske (Popasna district), Stakhanovka, Katerynivka, and Bakhmutka road near the 29th checkpoint. Firings were local and had no consequences.

Ukrainian soldiers successfully repulsed militants’ attack near Bohdanivka at Mariupol direction, - ATO press-center
   (Censor.NET) --- The Ukrainian military have successfully repelled the attack of the pro-Russian militants near the village of Bohdanivka which is situated not far from Mariupol.
   Censor.NET reports citing the ATO press center.
   The report reads: "Two groups of militants' infantry consisting of 10-15 people each were trying to storm the ATO forces' positions using small arms. The battle lasted from 5.50 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The losses of the attackers are specified. The situation in the ATO area is controlled by the Ukrainian military!"
